Carey & Michael

We were so delighted to get the opportunity to do an engagement shoot for the gorgeous, Carey & Michael. Love doesn't get more obvious than that between these 2 who have been dating each other for 9 years, so it was easy to capture how they feel towards each other, and they were literally game for anything! We wanted to capture thier story with an Autumn inspired theme and incorporate a touch of Carey's 2nd great ♥, cooking, in to the story. (see her delicious blog here). We had so much fun creating the camping scene and playing with some well-travelled leaves & they were both such sports, stripping off for wardrobe changes in the middle of a field on a rather chilly blustery Cape winters day!
Happiness is the story of these two special people.
Lots of love and laughter to you both xxx

Grey & Yellow Hair!

I've been loving all the pops of neon color featuring in fashion & decor these past few months & have been Pinning their influence like mad, from color dipped table legs, to dip-dye pleated skirts, bright paper bunting & fluro inspired accessories. So when I went to the hairdressers on Sat with a head like a blank canvas, I was super excited when the wonderfully talented Kelly @ Scar said she'd do some slate grey & neon yellow color flecks. I love her interpretation of the candy coloured hair tinting that's trending for Spring/Summer 2012. The ashy grey streaks have a bluey tint which has such a gorgeous water color look with the bright yellow. Lush! I love it.
The only problem now, is that my 3 year old daughter also wants rainbow colored hair and I'm not sure a diy paint solution will have quite the same results!
Thanks so much Kelly the amazing hair artist & Scar ♥

Pom Poms & Squish!

So the new obsession is Pom Poms! Gorgeous, light, fluffy tissue paper Pom Poms, courtesy of Martha Stewart's tutorial (see here).
Couple that with the ongoing obsession with our Squish, it made a great way to spend a wet & grotty Public Holiday!
We used old music score paper for garlands similar to those in  Carol & Luca's shoot, old book pages for paper chains & pretty doilies to create a magical paper 'nook' for lula's stage.
Making hand-stencilled fabric for the skirt, a felt Princess Crown & balloon dress was great fun (love making stuff in mini sizes) ; dressing up a 3 year old in a paper set was even more fun.
So in heart with Pom Poms & paper wheels right now I'd happily make a million to drape all over the house!

We were so happy to have Lula's Nana & Bam Bam over from the UK. We took the opportunity to have a family shoot whilst we were in Paternoster, but Lula's tummy bug & a thorn in her foot hindered our plans just a little!

Any hoo we went ahead & still captured some lovely moments

So much love between them, and they adored the attention - they haven't had pics of themselves since their wedding day 42 years ago!!
